The Unstoppable Force of Truth, Love, and Righteousness

Below is the sermon series called “The Unstoppable Force of Truth, Love, and Righteousness”. This series took us through 1st Epistle of John.

Sermon From 9/14/08: Intro to series (1 John 1:1-4) – It is about Jesus, it is only about Jesus, and it is all about Jesus.

Sermon From 9/21/08: Jesus, Sin, and Grace in a World of Hurt (1 John 1:5-2:2) – Sin is the problem in our lives individually and collectively as the church, and that unless we know how to deal with sin we and our church will become sick and die.

Sermon From 9/28/08: Love Them! (1 John 2:3-11) – The moral goal of life should be “I want to be close to Jesus.” The social goal of life should be “I want God to speak to me through people.”

Sermon From 10/5/08: Be Faithful, Staying Faithful (1 John 2:12-17) – Faithfulness, in the sense of us “remaining” or abiding in Jesus. In a large measure, this is what much of life is about. Come and hear what God has to say about it.

Sermon From 10/12/08: The Three Tests of John (I John  2:18-29) – The Moral, Social and Doctrinal questions.

Sermon From 10/19/08: Until He Comes (1 John 3:1-10) -God’s people become an unstoppable force when we live with Hope and practice Holiness until He comes.

Sermon From 10/26/08: What’s Love Got to Do with It? (1 John 3:11-18) – A special sermon by Barnarders Woods.

Sermon From 11/2/08: Test the Spirits (1 John  4:1-12) – John is always talking about the three tests of the Christian, either taking a self test or giving to someone else. They are the test of love (last week) the test of doing the right things for Jesus (righteousness) or the test of truth.

Sermon From 11/16/08: Christian Love (1 John 4:13-21) – What makes Christian love different from other types of love, and why do we have a corner on the market when it comes to this type of love?

Sermon From 11/23/08: Delusions and Truth (1 John 5:1-11) – Answer, lives testimony, God’s testimony, and internal testimony.

Sermon From 11/30/08: Spiritual Confidence (1 John 5:13-21) – John wraps up his epistle with encouragement found in the form of confidence in prayer and assurance of God’s protective care. These are two items we can be thankful for, they are ever present and available to us.
