We will see what the Bible has to say for us in regards to God centered unconditional and conditional aid and mercy to the poor and needy. God’s mercy comes to us without conditions, but does not proceed without our cooperation. The same for our giving to the needy, it is given without strings attached, but mercy also has a demand of change, or it is not really love.

1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
